10 Best Kings from Saegeuk Drama

Hi, drama princess!

This time I would like to discuss the best Kings from saegeuk korean drama, that I watched recently.
It is a bit difficult to choose, to many biases, because there are a lot of saegeuk drama that I like <3
Well let's see the chart based on my opinion.

10. Score : 5
He was good portrayed Lee Young (later Crown Prince Hyomyung) from Joseon Dinasty at Moonlight Drawn by Clouds drama from KBS2.
This drama aired from 22 Aug 2016 to 18 October 2016
Bo Gum paired with Kim Yoo Jung as Hong Ra On.  
This drama is like cruel battle with 'Moon Lovers : Scarlet Heart Ryeo' (SBS) which is aired at the same time and same day.
In my opinion, this drama is quiet enjoyable from the overall stories, but there is some part is boring. The antagonist should be more cruel, and the relationship between crown princess Jo, Hong Ra On and Lee Young is narrow, and less emotion.
But still this drama is worth to watch, because the story is a bit light not heavy as Deep rooted tree.

I put Park Bo Gum as number 10 of my list. I like him, he played along with Seo In Gook in 'I Remember You' drama. He is cute. But I think he should train hard to surpasses his hyeongs in saegeuk field.

First I can't believe that Seo In Gook will portrayed King Gwang Hae. As I know history of Gwang Hae is a bit complicated. Born as a concubine's child, Gwang Hae was proclaimed as an heir to the throne. Gwang Hae suffered from the threats of dethronement and assassination for 16 years because of his background

Seo In Gook should be applaused for portraying Gwang Hee.
Overall story is good to watch, but it's a little bit boring because you have to watch lot's of explanation of reading someone's face.
The King's Face (KBS2) aired from 19 November 2014 to 5 February 2015

This drama also worth to watch, and the plot is good to understand.

I put Seo In Gook to number 9 of my list.
He good enough portraying King Gwang Hee on this drama.

Kim Soo Hyun played as Lee Hwon at MBC drama 'The Moon That Embraces the Sun'
This drama is one of my top list saegeuk korean drama. Because there are some great artist that play important role on this drama. There are Kim Yoo Jung, Kim So Hyun, Jung Il Woo, Han Ga In and many more.
The Moon That Embraces the Sun tells the story of a secret love between Lee Hwon, a fictional king of Joseon, and Wol, a female shaman. Wol was born as Heo Yeon Woo, the daughter of a noble family who won the love of the then crown prince, Hwon. Her enemies, jealous of her family's position in court, schemed against her and wrestled away her rightful place as crown princess and nearly takes her life. Years later, an embittered Hwon meets Wol, now a female shaman who has no recollection of her past.
The Moon That Embraces the Sun aired from 4 January 2012 to 15 March 2012.

The costumes at this drama can make you droll, so lovely!

Honestly I am sad to put Big Boss (Song Joong Ki) on 7th list.Since his rival is also great actor.
Song Joong Ki played as Lee Do (later King Sejong) from SBS drama 'Tree with Deep Roots'
Overall drama is good and I think this drama should be put as best saegeuk list.

This drama aired from 5 October 2011 to 22 December 2011.

Song Joong Ki played as young Lee Do, his facial mostly serious at this drama. Same facial expression when he played Nice Guy drama.

But this is better than nice guy. For emotional expression, I prefer see him as Big Boss.

I gave big boss lucky 7 for his score

I should debating with my friend, between Yoo Ah In and Song Joong Ki which one should be number 6 and 7. And the conclusion is: Yoo Ah In got my number 6 best kings of saegeuk korean drama.

I like when he played as King Sook Jong at SBS drama 'Jang Ok Jung, Living in Love' This drama aired 8 April 2013 to 25 June 2013.

Jang ok Jung story is a little bit different with the historical story. But still very worth to watch.
Lady Jang Hee Bin, one of Korea’s best known royal concubines of the Joseon Dynasty and famous for her hunger for power and ruthless plotting. However, this drama will tell a completely new interpretation of the infamous royal concubine Lady Jang Hee Bin and show the story before she became concubine and how her involvement as a fashion designer and cosmetics-maker during that era.

I like Yoo Ah In play such a fierce king, badass or villain lol. If you already watch Jang Ok Jung, I suggest you watch Dong Yi.

Park Yoochun always suitable for every role. I already watch some of his drama and yes, he is a good actor.
He got my #5 as best kings from saegeuk drama.
Although he is a crown prince but later he will be a King isn't it.
This is fantasy drama from SBS, that aired 21 March 2012 to 24 May 2012.

When Crown Prince Lee Gak is transported 300 years into the future to present day Seoul along with his three retainers, they believe that it is their duty to solve the murder case of the Crown Princess in order to return to Joseon. They land in the rooftop apartment of Park Ha, a cheerful woman in her mid-20s, who eventually believes the odd quartet's predicament and becomes their guardian. As Park Ha educates the four on life in the 21st century, Lee Gak comes across Hong Se Na, who seems to be the reincarnation of his wife. Taking on the identity of Yong Tae Yong, Lee Gak slowly begins to unravel the murder of Yong Tae Yong and in turn moves closer to solving the murder case of the Crown Princess. As he finds himself in love with Park Ha, he figures that maybe the Crown Princess was not as he expected after all. No doubt this drama is enjoyable and funny.

The best drama ever, yes it's Dong Yi. Which played by good actor and actress such as Ji Jin Hee and Han Hyo Joo.

Ji Jin Hee made his breakthrough from Jewel In The Palace and then he also played as pilot from drama Take Care of Us, Captain. and he got my 8,3 score

And this time he played as King Sook Jong from drama titled 'Dong Yi' (MBC) This drama was aired from 22 March 2010 to 12 October 2010. Such a long period drama, but you will never get bored watching this drama. the story focuses on Dong Yi, a water maid who gains the trust of Queen Inhyeon and later the favour of the king when he is moved by her prayers for the health of the Queen during the court disputes caused by Jang Hee Bin. Dong Yi becomes a concubine with the rank of sook-bin and bears a son who will later become the 21st king of Joseon, Yeongjo

As I said before, you should watch Dong Yi when you have watched Jang Ok Jung : living in love, and you will found the difference feel. Both are worth yo watch and worth to re-watch.

Here comes the handsome badass villain, Kim Nam Gil as Bi dam in Queen Seon Deok.
Such a good actor from south korea. he always played warrior with long and messy hair, people may found it untidy but for me that was hot.
I prefer see kim nam gil with his badass look than on the shark.

So I gave my #3 for Kim Nam Gil when he played as King on The Great Queen Seon Deok (MBC) which aired from 25 May 2009 to 22 December 2009

This drama told about Deokman was born a twin but was sent to a place far away by her father, King Jinpyung in order to protect her from the royal court lady, Mishil who tries to snatch away the throne from the royal successor. Deokman was later brought back to the Silla palace, where she joined forces with her twin sister Princess Chunmyung to oppose Mishil.

This drama grabbed plenty awards for the best actor and actress.

Who doubt his acting and handsomeness?
I guess most drama princess should know about this guy.
Yes, he is Ji Chang Wook.
I've been watching his drama such as: Warrior Baek Dong Soo, Bachelor Vegetable Store, Five Fingers, Healer, Empress ki and currently watching The K2.
He replaced my favourite actor Lee Min Hoo, now is Ji Chang Wook

From all of his drama that I ever watched, my favourite was Empress Ki. his character is so complete, from the childish boy, ambition king and sadist king, but he also weak when he is with Ki Nyang. This drama is so adorable, cute and cool at the same time.

This drama was aired from 28 October 2013 to 29 April 2014, (MBC) and it's 51 Episode.
This drama is worth to watch and worth to re watch

The winner is Cha Seung Won, senior actor from south korea.Whatever his role, he can play it well start from attire, appearance, voice, eyes, emotion its all worth!!

He is my favorite actor. Shouldn't questioned his acting skill, it's above average, i think.

He played as King Gwang Hae as the son of a concubine and secondary heir, who in his thirst for power, usurps the Crown and ousts his half-sister Jungmyung from the palace. Gwanghae is then deposed in a coup by the Westerners, who replace him with Injo. Extremely paranoid and wanting to stabilise his position, he is also out for Jungmyung's life.

When I compare Gwang Hae from Seo In Gook and Cha Seung Won, I choose Cha Seung Won even though both actor is good portraying Gwang Hae.

Hwajung was aired from 13 April 2015 - 29 Sept 2015 (MBC)

Those are my choice... my kings hahaha. Some people ask me, why I didn't include Lee Joon Ki and Jung Il Woo at my list.
No, they are suitable played as nobleman not a king hahah.
I may write 10 best Queen from saegeuk drama. Just keep around here.
